Start following the Lamar Middle School Band on Twitter!
The Lamar Middle School Band will use Twitter as a communication
tool for parents and students. This is especially helpful when there
is a last minute change in plans such as a change in rehearsal time
or location due to weather or an unforeseen event.
Follow these three steps to get started.
1. Got a Twitter account, great! Go to Step 2. Otherwise visit
http://twitter.com and set up a free account.
2. Log into Twitter and visit http://twitter.com/lamarmsband then
click on the “Follow” button.
3. Send an email to twitter@lamarmsband.org and put “Twitter” as the
subject.
Include the following in the body of the email:
Your full name
Your students full name
Your TWITTER name
Once you have been confirmed go to http://www.twitter.com/lamarmsband to view our Band tweets!
Want to receive Band twitters on your cell phone?
One of the cool features of Twitter is that you can select certain
tweets to be sent to your phone as text (SMS) messages. This is a
real-time way to keep up on Lamar Band events. Your phone carriers
normal text rates apply so be sure you understand your plan before
deciding to follow.
1. Start at http://twitter.com and log into your account.
2. Already receive tweets as texts from Twitter? Great, go to Step
3. Otherwise follow these simple steps:
Click the Settings link in the drop-down in the top right-hand
corner of your screen (near username).
Click the Mobile tab and follow the instructions.
3. Click “Home” and then click on the “Following” link on the right
side of the screen.
Click on the Lamar Middle School Band.
Now click on the “cell phone” icon (see below).

If you want to STOP receiving SMS text messages from the band,
simply reply to any message with OFF.
