Lewisville Lake Symphony announces Intern program

Fostering long term enjoyment of great music and encouraging student musicians.

The Lewisville Lake Symphony announces its new Symphony Intern program for students in the 6th through 12th grades.

“We are looking for a select group of students who are excited by great music,” says Ms. Margaret Wells, Chair of the Symphony’s Civic Relationships Group. “In return for helping the House Front team at performances, the Interns will receive community service credits and an opportunity during final rehearsals to sit on stage among members of the LLS all-professional orchestra under the baton of Maestro Adron Ming.” Prospective Interns need a letter of recommendation from their band director, orchestra director, choir director, private music teacher, or classroom teacher. Part of the selection process will be based on an essay of 400 words or less on either of two topics – "How does music help in other areas of life?" or "What makes live music more exciting than recorded music?"

Full details of the Symphony Intern Program are available here.

Private Instruction at Lamar Middle School

Act quickly - lesson spots fill up on a first come, first serve basis.

The Lamar band directors would like to take this opportunity to encourage your child to participate in the Lamar private-lesson program. Qualified teachers travel to Lamar, and students take lessons during their regularly scheduled band class or before or after school. Students receive one private lesson per week. We try to schedule thirty-minute lessons when possible, but find it necessary to schedule some twenty minute lessons due to the class length. Lesson fees are $15 per 20 minute lesson and $17 per 30 minute lesson. Parents are asked to pay for the lessons on a monthly basis. You will receive a statement each month indicating your payment. All private lesson payments will be paid DIRECTLY TO THE TEACHER. To ensure continued success of this program, please remit your monthly pledge promptly. Read more...

Interested? Complete this form and return to the band directors ASAP.

Are you ready for the new school year?

School starts on Monday, August 23, 2010

Be sure to log into CHARMS and update your personal information. Even if your child was in band last year, double check that your contact information is correct (there have been some that were cleared out after last year). If you have not received any mail, then you need to take action. This is the primary method of communication between you and the band directors.

Have questions on band, then check out the Band Handbook.
