  1. Alan Hanna, Director

    Alan Hanna is in his seventh year as director of the Lamar Middle School Bands in Flower Mound, Texas. Mr. Hanna moved to Lamar from Frisco, Texas where he was director of bands at Pioneer Heritage Middle School. Mr. Hanna began teaching twelve years ago after graduating with a Bachelor of Music Education degree from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. He began teaching as the assistant band director at Midland Lee High School with four additional years as the band director at Goddard Junior High in Midland. His bands have received superior ratings at both UIL Contests and Festivals and have been selected to the final round of the Texas Music Educators Association State Honor Band Competition twice. He has served as guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator in regions across the State of Texas. Mr. Hanna’s love for music began at a young age. His mother was his elementary music teacher, and his father was his high school band director. His sister, Kimberley Hoyle, is also a band director and teaches in the Lovejoy ISD. Mr. Hanna plays the trumpet and has participated in practically all facets of instrumental performance, including Drum Corps International, rhythm and blues bands and symphony orchestra. He was a member of the internationally recognized blues band Kay Kay and the Rays. Mr. Hanna is married to Shari, who has been a color guard instructor for both Midland and Lee High Schools in Midland. She currently works for Genequity Mortgage in Irving.

  2. Danielle Walkenhorst Aicher, Associate Director

    Danielle Walkenhorst Aicher recently earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree with Summa Cum Laude honors from the University of Houston. While primarily studying flute there, Mrs. Walkenhorst Aicher had the privilege of performing in the top Wind Ensemble, New Music Ensemble, Cougar Marching Band, and the Symphony, Opera and Ballet Orchestras. As a member of the University of Houston’s flute choir, Mrs. Walkenhorst Aicher has traveled to Florida and New Mexico as a soloist at the National Flute Association conventions. This fall she married Joe Aicher, the new manager of Music and Arts in Lewisville. Mrs. Walkenhorst Aicher feels very fortunate to have begun her teaching career at Lamar Middle School with Mr. Hanna and is looking forward to a great second year!

If you would prefer to write a note, send it with your child. Please include a phone number where you can be reached and the best time to call you. You may also include an e-mail address.

 

You can attempt to call during a conference time (3:10-3:55pm), but note that the directors are not always near a phone during this time. They may use conference time for an emergency trip to the music store and other band-related errands. In general, they are teaching every period of the school day. Sometimes it is possible to reach them during the 5 minute passing time between classes. Regardless of what time you call, you may always leave a message on their voice mail and they will return your call as soon as possible.
